Although it’s not officially winter yet, it certainly feels like it! So what does this mean for our power wash services? Contrary to popular belief, we can still offer a thorough cleaning in the cold. We just have to be a bit more careful. To answer this question fully, we’ll address some of our primary seasonal concerns.
For the Equipment
Keeping our equipment functional and efficient is our biggest worry during winter. Whether we’re using them frequently or not, it’s all about protecting them against freezing temperatures. Many pressure washers hold residual water, even when not in use. Which can cause system failures and extensive damage during this time of year. Fortunately, we store all of our equipment in a temperature-controlled area. So, anytime we need to power wash, it’s ready to go! If you have your own pressure washer, even a small one, be sure to drain the lines completely and store it safely. Otherwise, it may not work when you try to turn it on next spring.
For our Technicians
We also have to take extra steps to protect our staff! Too much exposure to cold temperatures and other winter hazards simply isn’t good for you. While we don’t have any secrets to staying warm, we are very careful to wear the proper layers, including gloves, hats, and work boots. We also try to schedule strategically. Typically, it’s warmest during the afternoon, so we may only come out to power wash around then. Also, we’ll watch the weather reports looking for fluctuations—in our favor. Maryland winters can be completely unpredictable! 15 degrees Fahrenheit one week and 50 the next. If possible, we’ll take advantage of the warmer temperatures, scheduling most service calls then. Certain indoor projects can also benefit from a little pressure washing, and we’re more than happy to take care of those all winter long!
For our Effectiveness
When it comes to power washing, it’s not just the pressure that’s important, but also the cleaning agents we use! Did you know that certain cleaners are affected by temperatures? It’s true. Many common cleansers lose their effectiveness once we hit the freezing point of water. Fortunately, our experienced technicians know just how to work around this winter-related complication. Apart from using a different combination of cleaning agents, we can also use warmer water to increase efficiency. (Not to mention it’ll lessen the amount of time we have to spend out in the cold!) When you work with the team at D & L Enterprises, you don’t have to worry about a thing.
Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean we have to stop power washing! Let us work around the colder temperatures, so you can enjoy a thorough cleaning any time of the year. For more information and/or a personalized quote, contact D & L Enterprises today.
